Conveyor Belt Selector
Conveyor Belt Selector
The conveyor belt selector filters all 552 belt specifications we publish - light duty, heavy duty, incline, PVC and thermoplastic, and specialty constructions - by the requirements that actually drive belt selection: ply count, overall thickness, working tension (PIW), operating temperature, minimum pulley diameter, cover compound, color, and FDA, oil-resistance, fire-resistance or anti-static requirements. Every spec was verified against the manufacturer's published data in July 2026. If you would rather start from your line than a spec sheet, jump to belts by industry.
Some belts without a published value for an active filter are hidden. Not finding a match? Call (888) 203-2358 - we stock more than we publish.
How to choose a replacement conveyor belt
Match a replacement belt on four measurements before anything else: overall thickness, working tension rating (PIW), ply count, and top cover type. Measure thickness with calipers on a clean section, count plies at a cut end, and take the tension rating from the old belt's branding or your drive calculation. Then narrow by environment: temperature at the belt line, oil or chemical exposure, food contact (FDA), and whether the belt must dissipate static or resist fire per MSHA requirements. Finally, check the belt against your smallest pulley - every belt has a minimum pulley diameter it can flex around, and nose bar capable belts handle knife edges.
If the old belt is too worn to measure, our guides can help: all belt specifications lists every construction in one table, and the category pages explain the trade-offs within each family. When in doubt, call (888) 203-2358 with whatever numbers you have.

Each shortcut below pre-fills the selector with the filters that industry actually runs on - the counts come from the same verified spec data as the tool. Click one, then refine with your measurements.
Food Processing
Washdown lines, bakeries, meat and poultry, dairy and packaged food plants need FDA-acceptable cover compounds - white nitrile, PVC, polyurethane and silicone constructions built for direct food contact.

Sortation, distribution center and parcel lines run low-stretch light duty belts with quiet, consistent-friction covers, including ZipLink-style splice-free constructions.
See all 49 package handling belts →Aggregate, Mining & Quarry
Crushed stone, sand and gravel, and ore demand heavy duty rubber belts with thick abrasion-resistant covers and high working tensions.
See all 111 heavy duty belts →Agriculture & Grain
Grain elevators, feed mills and seed handling run elevator belting built for bucket bolt patterns, with oil-resistant covers available where treated seed or fertilizer is in play.

How do I use the conveyor belt selector?
Set only the requirements you know: pick a category or cover material, enter your working tension in PIW, your belt thickness range, or the temperature the belt must handle, and check any required properties such as FDA or oil resistance. The list updates instantly, and each result links to the full spec page where you can request a quote.
What does PIW mean on a conveyor belt?
PIW is pounds per inch of width, the working tension rating of the belt. A 220 PIW belt rated at 36 inches wide can carry a maximum working tension of 220 x 36 = 7,920 pounds. Choose a rating at or above the tension your drive calculation requires.
What if I do not know my belt specifications?
Measure the old belt: overall thickness with calipers, width, and count the plies at a cut end. Note the cover texture and any printed branding. Send us what you have or call (888) 203-2358 and we will identify it, usually same day.
What is minimum pulley diameter on a conveyor belt?
Minimum pulley diameter is the smallest pulley a belt can bend around without damaging its carcass or delaminating the covers. Thicker, higher-tension belts need larger pulleys. Pick your smallest pulley diameter in the selector and it will only show belts rated for it; belts marked nose bar capable flex over a knife edge, so they work on any pulley. Heavy duty belts show their lowest published figure here - the full head and tail pulley breakdown by operating tension is on each spec page.
Which conveyor belts are FDA approved?
Check the FDA approved filter to see every belt with FDA-acceptable cover compounds, typically white nitrile, white PVC, polyurethane and silicone constructions used in food processing. Each spec page lists the full construction so your QA team can verify compliance.
Which conveyor belt do I need for my industry?
Start from the belts-by-industry shortcuts on this page: food processing lines need FDA-acceptable covers, package handling and distribution centers run low-stretch light duty belts, aggregate and mining operations take heavy duty abrasion-resistant rubber, grain elevators use elevator belting, sawmills grip lumber with rough top covers, and recycling lines climb on chevron profiles. Each shortcut pre-fills the selector filters - refine from there with your measurements.
Can Texas Belting cut belts to size?
Yes. Most belts are stocked in bulk rolls in Houston and cut to your width and length, with cleating, v-guides, and endless splicing available on request. Request a quote from any belt page with your dimensions.
