Brewer Tensioners
38 products
Brewer's tensioner and positioner lineup covers 38 distinct part numbers across 17 series. Every one of them is a variant of the Universal Drive Tensioner®, the design Brewer patented in the 1940s that uses a manually adjustable pivot mechanism to set chain or belt tension to a specific value and lock it in place. Reverse motion capable across the lineup.
Selection comes down to two questions. First, how is it mounting to your frame? Base mount (S, GS series) bolts to a flat surface. Flange mount (G, GS series) clamps to the side of a housing. Shaft mount (A series) hangs off an existing shaft. Screw adjustment (H series), slide adjustment (L series), and angle mount (R, RS series) cover the other common geometries. Heavy duty series BB1 through BB4 are for high-load positions on conveyor drives and large gearboxes.
Second question: do you need automatic tension compensation, or are you locking in a fixed value at install? For automatic compensation (chain that stretches over time, belt that creeps), spec the T-series spring tensioners or the MSL series automatic line. For fixed tension where you set it once at install, any of the other 15 series will work depending on your mount type.
