The T10 profile it descends from is the DIN 7721 standard metric trapezoidal belt. AT10 was developed as a reinforced evolution of T10: a larger tooth cross-section, a heavier steel cord package, and a stiffer body, aimed at linear motion and positioning drives rather than light transport. How do I read an AT10 part number?
An endless AT10 designation reads width, profile, pitch length: 25AT10/1050 is a 25 mm wide AT10 belt with a 1050 mm pitch length. Tooth count is pitch length divided by 10, so that belt has 105 teeth. Some brands reorder the same three values as AT10-1050-25; the belt is identical.
- 25AT10/1050: 25 mm wide, 1050 mm pitch length, 105 teeth. Also written AT10-1050-25.

Open-end AT10 drops the length term: it is called out by width and profile (for example AT10, 25 mm, per meter) and cut from rolls. AT10 vs T10: what is the difference?
AT10 and T10 share the 10 mm metric pitch and nothing else that matters. The AT10 tooth is wider at the root with a 50° flank angle against T10's 40°, the belt section is thicker, and the steel cord line is heavier. Distributor-published comparisons credit AT-series belts with roughly 20–30% more load capacity than the same-pitch T-series belt, along with less tooth deflection under positioning loads.

Upgrading a T10 axis to AT10 is a legitimate way to gain capacity and stiffness, but it is a drive conversion: pulleys and belt change together. If the machine was designed around T10 and the loads have not grown, staying with T10 is usually the cheaper, correct call. AT10 vs HTD 8M rubber synchronous belts
AT10 and HTD 8M solve different problems. HTD is a curvilinear round-tooth profile, typically molded in rubber with fiberglass cords, built to transmit rotary power through fans, pumps, and conveyor drives. AT10 is a trapezoidal polyurethane belt with steel cords, built to hold position in linear axes. The pitches (10 mm vs 8 mm) and tooth forms do not interchange in any direction.
Pick the polyurethane AT10 when the drive positions a load: steel cords give near-zero stretch, so a gantry homes to the same spot without periodic re-tensioning, and the PU body resists oil, many chemicals, and abrasion while shedding almost no dust. Pick rubber synchronous belts for rotary power transmission: they damp shock better, run quieter at speed, and cost less per unit of horsepower. Endless or open-end: which AT10 do you need?
Endless AT10 belts are cast or welded into a loop and run closed drives: rotary transmissions and short linear stages where the belt returns over both pulleys. Open-end AT10 is cut from rolls and clamped at both ends of the moving carriage, which is how most long-travel gantries, vertical lifts, and door operators are built; travel is limited only by roll length, not by stocked loop sizes.

Common AT10 selection mistakes
- Ordering by pitch alone. T10, AT10, and several 10 mm pitch profiles exist in the same plants. Matching the 10 mm pitch without matching the profile puts the wrong tooth in the groove; confirm AT vs T from the pulley stamp or a tooth-width check.
- Measuring a mounted belt instead of counting teeth. A belt measured around pulleys under tension reads long. Count teeth and multiply by 10 for the true pitch length.
- Ignoring minimum pulley and idler diameters. Steel-cord PU belts fail from cord fatigue when bent too tight, especially over backside idlers. Hold the published minimums.
- Re-using worn pulleys. Aluminum AT10 pulleys wear hollow-flanked under a steel-cord belt; a new belt in worn grooves quickly wears to match. Inspect grooves with the belt off.
- Replacing an open-end axis with an endless belt. Clamped-end drives need open-end stock cut to the drive, not the nearest endless loop. Check how the old belt terminates before ordering.
