Roller chain sprockets are toothed wheels that engage the rollers of ANSI standard chain. This collection stocks 731 sprockets for #25 through #80 chain (1/4 in to 1 in pitch), from 6 to 112 teeth, in machined steel, stainless steel for wash down and corrosive service, and acetal for light, quiet, lube free drives.
Hub styles include A (plate, no hub), B (hub one side), and C (hub both sides), with stock bores ready to rebore and key to your shaft up to each size's published maximum. Every sprocket is machined from solid stock, never sintered or powdered metal, and product pages cross to Martin and US Tsubaki numbers from published interchange data.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I read a sprocket number like 40B45?
Chain size, hub style, tooth count. 40B45 is a #40 chain sprocket with a B style hub and 45 teeth. The pattern is industry standard shorthand, so equivalents from Martin, Tsubaki, and others carry the same or nearly identical numbers.
What chain size do I have?
Measure the pitch: the center to center distance between two adjacent pins. #25 is 1/4 in, #35 is 3/8 in, #40 is 1/2 in, #50 is 5/8 in, #60 is 3/4 in, and #80 is 1 in. The size is usually also stamped on the chain side plates.
When should a sprocket be replaced?
When the teeth hook, sharpen, or visibly thin. A worn sprocket destroys new chain quickly, so worn sprockets and chain are replaced together. As a rule, sprockets last two to three chain replacements on a properly tensioned and lubricated drive.
Can sprockets be bored to my shaft size?
Yes. Most sprockets in this collection ship with a minimum plain stock bore and can be rebored and keyed up to the published maximum bore for that size. Call (888) 203-2358 to have a sprocket finished to your shaft before shipping.
