Leeson Motor Cross Reference - WorldWide Electric & NAE Equivalents

Leeson (Regal Rexnord) built its name on fractional and small integral HP motors - the C-face gearmotor inputs, washdown units, and single-phase workhorses scattered through every plant and farm shop. Those are exactly the sizes stocked deepest here, and NEMA standardization makes the cross mechanical.

The Five-Point Cross

Check From the Old Nameplate Must Match?
HP & RPM Rated power and full-load speed Yes - same HP (or one up), same pole count
Frame NEMA frame number (e.g. 184T, 326T) Yes - frame match = bolt-in fit
Voltage / Phase e.g. 230/460V, 3φ, 60 Hz Yes
Enclosure ODP, TEFC, TEXP, washdown Yes, or upgrade
Service Factor & Design SF 1.15, NEMA Design B typical Equal or better

Because both brands build to NEMA MG-1, a frame match guarantees the mounting dimensions - details in our frame size chart and nameplate guide.

Where Leeson Lines Typically Cross

Integral TEFC General industrial Integral TEFC

Leeson Cross Notes

Leeson catalog numbers (e.g. 110086) don't encode specs - the nameplate grid does, so photograph it. Watch three things: many Leeson fractionals are 56 with special shafts or faces (56C, 56H, 56J) - match the suffix, not just the 56; single-phase units list capacitor values worth recording before the motor goes in the scrap bin; and Leeson metric/IEC frames (63–132) cross to IEC equivalents, not NEMA frames - IEC flange kits cover some conversions.

Replacing a Leeson on a worm reducer input? Match the C-face and shaft, or replace motor and reducer together as a gearmotor - sometimes cheaper than the special motor alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Leeson part numbers cross-referenced to other brands?

Not by number - Leeson catalog numbers are arbitrary, so crossing works from the nameplate specs: HP, RPM, frame (with suffix), voltage, enclosure. With those five points, equivalent NEMA motors interchange directly.

What does 56C, 56H, or 56J mean on a Leeson nameplate?

All share the 56 shaft height; C adds a C-face flange, H adds combination base holes (56/143T pattern), J is the threaded-shaft jet pump build. The suffix must match on a replacement or the motor won't mount.

Can I replace a Leeson IEC-frame motor with a NEMA motor?

Not directly - IEC 71/80/90 frames have metric mounting and shafts. Either source the IEC equivalent or adapt with an IEC flange kit where the driven equipment allows; send photos and we'll advise which is cheaper.

My Leeson gearmotor died. Motor only, or whole unit?

Compare prices both ways. If the reducer is healthy and the motor is a standard C-face, replace the motor. If the gearmotor is integrated or worn, a stock C-face motor plus HDR or FHN reducer is often faster and cheaper than an OEM assembly.

Do you stock single-phase replacement motors for Leeson farm duty?

Yes - capacitor-start single-phase TEFC and ODP fractionals cover the common farm sizes, with starting capacitors stocked separately. Match HP, RPM, frame suffix, and voltage off the nameplate.
