Description
Belt Skiver and Cutter SKCU-60 is a hand-operated belt-end preparation tool for 60-inch (1500 mm) belt widths. Used to make square, clean cuts and uniform-thickness skiving cuts before installing mechanical fasteners or preparing a belt for vulcanizing.
What is in the package:
- 1 manual belt skiver
- Replaceable cutting blade
What it does: Two functions in one tool. First, it cuts the belt square across its full width, ensuring the splice ends meet flush. Second, it skives (thins down) one or both belt ends to a uniform thickness, which is required for the splice to seat properly with mechanical fasteners or hot vulcanizing.
How to use: Position the belt under the cutter with proper alignment. Set the depth (for skiving) or full-cut blade (for cutting). Push the cutter handle along the 60-inch rail in a single smooth motion. The guide rail keeps the cut straight and the depth uniform across the entire belt width.
When to use: Required for any field belt splicing job. Typical applications include conveyor belt repair at quarries, mines, plants, and construction sites where vulcanizing equipment is unavailable or impractical. Also used in shop environments before sending repaired belts back to the field.
Sizing note: Choose the SKCU length to match your widest belt. The 60-inch SKCU handles belts up to 60" wide. For belts wider than 60", select a longer SKCU. For motorized cutting on the same belt sizes, see the APC-1.5 air-powered or BPC-1.0 battery-powered belt cutters.
