Description
Copper Rivet CR-Super Complete Splice Kit is a steel fastener and copper rivet belt splicing kit for a 72-inch (1800mm) belt width. The kit contains matched fastener strips, solid copper rivets, copper burrs (washers), and installation instructions for a permanent clinched mechanical splice. CR-Super is MATO's primary copper rivet splice kit for rubber-and-fabric baler belts, canvas flat belts, and fabric-reinforced power transmission belts.
What is in the package:
- Matched fastener strips (carbon steel) sized for 72" (1800mm) belt
- Solid copper rivets (corrosion-resistant, non-sparking)
- Copper burrs (washers) for distributing clinching load
- Installation instructions
Required installation hardware NOT included: rivet setter or punch, hammer, backing anvil, belt cutter or square. Sold separately.
Why copper: Copper is naturally corrosion-resistant, clinches cleanly on fabric and rubber carcasses without cracking, and is non-sparking. This makes it the traditional and current choice for grain elevators, flour mills, and environments where ferrous sparks are unacceptable near dry crops or combustible dust. Copper burrs distribute clinching load across the belt surface, maintaining grip even on soft or worn belt covers.
Material combination: Steel fastener strips paired with solid copper rivets and copper burrs. Steel fastener with copper rivets is the standard economical combination for general agricultural and industrial service.
Applications: Used in round-baler belt splicing on John Deere, New Holland, and Vermeer equipment, grain elevator transfer belts, sawmill flat drive belt repair, and legacy power transmission applications. Not recommended for heavy mining, quarry, cement, or high-PIW conveyors where Plategrip or Riv-Nail is the correct choice.
Installation: Requires a rivet setter or punch, hammer, backing anvil, belt cutter or square, and optionally a rivet-setting press. Skill level is moderate. Technicians match rivet length to combined belt thickness plus burr, maintain consistent hole spacing, and avoid over-peening that would crack the burr or deform the belt.
