Lynx Nickel Plated Chain
Lynx nickel plated chain combines carbon steel's full tensile strength with a nickel plating that adds moderate corrosion resistance. Significantly more economical than stainless steel, nickel plated chain handles intermittent water exposure, washdown environments, and moderately humid conditions. Not appropriate for direct food contact, aggressive chemicals, or constant saltwater immersion, for those, choose stainless or specialized coated chain.
Key Features
- Full carbon-steel tensile strength (no strength reduction)
- Cost-effective alternative to stainless for moderate corrosion
- Bright finish, resistant to surface rust
- Compatible with standard ANSI sprockets
- Available in same pitches as standard carbon steel chain
- Operating temperature range: -40°F to 400°F
When To Choose This Material
- Indoor washdown environments (daily sanitization)
- Humid manufacturing environments
- Outdoor sheltered installations (covered conveyors)
- Moderate-duty food processing (not direct contact)
- Cost-sensitive applications where stainless is overkill
When To Consider Alternatives
- Direct food contact applications (not FDA compliant)
- Continuous saltwater or marine environments
- Aggressive acid or alkaline chemical exposure
- Constant high-temperature operation (>400°F)
