Modular Belts for Packaging Lines
Modular Belts for Packaging Lines
Smooth transfers, reliable product control, and full flight and sidewall options for every packaging application. Modutech modular belts handle tight-transfer machines, incline/decline elevation changes, accumulation tables, and high-speed case packing. FDA compliant for food-contact packaging.
Why Modutech for Packaging?

Packaging lines demand precision. Tight transfer gaps between machines, smooth product handoff without jams, reliable incline conveying without slippage, and accumulation zones that handle variable upstream speeds. The belt must work seamlessly with wrappers, case packers, tray loaders, shrink tunnels, and palletizers.
Modutech's EC127 series at 0.5" pitch provides the tightest transfer gaps for compact packaging machines — as small as 0.75" nosebar diameter. The EC254 C and EC254 NT handle general packaging with easy-clean surfaces. And the grip top models provide reliable product control on inclines and declines without vacuum or mechanical hold-downs.
Full flight and sidewall options across the EC254 and EC508 series mean products stay contained on inclines without sliding or tipping — from T25 mini flights through T150 tall flights with sidewalls up to 100mm.
Recommended Belts by Packaging Application
Belt selection by application type. Click any model for full specifications.
| Application | Recommended Belt | Why This Belt |
|---|---|---|
| Tight-Transfer Machines | EC127 C | 0.5" pitch — smallest transfer gap. For flow wrappers, baggers, and compact machines. |
| General Conveying | EC254 C | Versatile 1" pitch flat top. Easy-clean. Full flight and sidewall options for inclines. |
| Non-Stick Transfer | EC254 NT | Non-tabbed surface minimizes contact area. Reduces adhesion for sticky or label-sensitive products. |
| Incline / Decline | EC127 GT, MD254 GT | Textured grip top for 30-35° inclines. EC127 GT for light products, MD254 GT for heavier loads. |
| Curved Lines | EC254R GT | Only grip top with radius capability. For packaging lines with direction changes and elevation. |
| Case Packing | EC254 C, EC508 C | Flat top for case erectors and packers. EC508 for heavier cases. Flights for incline infeed. |
| Tray Loading | EC254 C | Smooth surface for tray pack systems. Consistent product presentation for retail-ready packs. |
| Shrink Tunnels | EC254 PR16 | 16% perforated for hot air circulation through shrink film. PP rated to +90°C. |
| Accumulation Tables | MD254 C | Medium-duty for product accumulation zones. Stronger modules handle back-pressure from stacked product. |
| Heavy Case / Pallet | EC508 C | 2" pitch heavy-duty for loaded cases, multi-packs, and palletizer infeed. 33,000 N/m in POM. |
Flights, Sidewalls & Accessories
Packaging lines often need product containment on inclines and declines. Modutech offers the widest range of accessories.
T25 through T150 height options. Standard flights, cleated flights (TC), and non-contact flights (TNC) depending on product sensitivity. Prevent products from sliding back on inclines.
Heights from h=25mm to h=100mm. Contain products laterally on inclines and curves. Essential for loose items, small packages, and bulk product on elevation changes.
Available on EC254 C and PR16. Hold the belt down on the return side to prevent belt lift on high-speed lines and inclines where belt tension varies.
FDA-approved textured rubber surface on EC127 GT, MD254 GT, and EC254R GT. Provides friction without flights for products that need positioning rather than containment.
Packaging Applications
FDA-compliant flat top for direct food contact before final sealing. EC127 C for flow wrappers and vertical form-fill-seal machines. EC254 C for tray packing and overwrapping.
EC254 C and MD254 C for bottle and can conveyors. Smooth surface prevents label damage. Accumulation-friendly for variable-speed lines between fillers and case packers.
EC127 C for compact cartoners and blister pack machines. Non-marking surface for labeled products. Tight 0.5" pitch transfers between high-speed packaging stations.
EC254 C and EC508 C for pack-out stations and shipping conveyors. Handles mixed package sizes and weights. MD254 GT grip top for inclines between packing and shipping levels.
EC254 PR16 perforated for hot air circulation in shrink tunnels. PP material rated to +90°C. Perforations allow heat to reach shrink film evenly from below.
EC508 C heavy-duty for palletizer infeed with loaded cases. 33,000 N/m in POM handles the heaviest multi-pack cases. Flights available for incline feeds into palletizer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What belt has the tightest transfer gap for packaging machines?
The EC127 C at 0.5" pitch provides the smallest transfer gap — down to 0.75" nosebar diameters. This is essential for flow wrappers, vertical form-fill-seal machines, and compact cartoners where product must transfer cleanly between closely spaced machine sections.
Which grip top belt is best for packaging inclines?
For straight inclines, the EC127 GT handles light packaged products at 0.5" pitch, while the MD254 GT handles heavier loads at 1" pitch. For packaging lines with curves and elevation changes, the EC254R GT is the only grip top with radius capability. All three use the same FDA-approved non-marking textured surface.
Can I add flights and sidewalls for incline packaging?
Yes. The EC254 C supports flights from T25 to T100, cleated flights (TC75, TCH75), and sidewalls from h=25mm to h=100mm. The EC508 series offers even taller flights up to T150 with sidewalls. Both series include hold-down tab options for belt stability on high-speed inclines. See the EC254 and EC508 spec pages for full accessory options.
What belt works for shrink tunnel temperatures?
The EC254 PR16 in Polypropylene (PP) rated to +90°C handles standard shrink tunnel temperatures. The 16% perforated surface allows hot air to circulate through the belt and reach the shrink film evenly. For higher temperatures, Acetal (POM) rated to +110°C is available.
Are Modutech belts FDA compliant for food packaging?
Yes. All Modutech materials — PP, PE, and POM — are FDA and EU 10/2011 compliant for direct food contact. This applies to both primary packaging (belt touches food before sealing) and secondary packaging (belt handles sealed packages). Certificates available on request.
