HP508 FG — "Battery Belt"

High-performance flush grid for heavy-duty cooling, drying, and freezing applications.

Modutech HP508 FG high performance flush grid battery belt for heavy-duty cooling and freezing
Flush Grid (36%)36% Open2" Pitch

The HP508 FG — known in the industry as the "Battery Belt" — features thick, reinforced product supports that carry more weight without breaking or deforming. The 36% open area provides excellent airflow for cooling tunnels, spiral freezers, and drying lines.

With 34,200 N/m belt strength in Polypropylene alone, the HP508 FG outperforms most economy and medium-duty belts in POM. This makes it the go-to choice for operations that need maximum load capacity combined with high open area for heat transfer.

Available in standard widths from 152.4mm (6") to 1143mm (45") with 76.2mm (3") standard increments. FDA and EU 10/2011 compliant for direct food contact.

Belt Strength & Temperature Range

HP508 FG delivers exceptional strength in PP alone. All materials FDA & EU 10/2011 compliant.

Material Strength (N/m) Strength (lb/ft) Temp Min Temp Max Weight
Polypropylene (PP) 34,200 2,343 +5°C / +41°F +90°C / +194°F 8.9 kg/m²

For comparison: EC508 C in PP delivers 19,800 N/m. EC508 C in POM delivers 33,000 N/m. The HP508 FG exceeds both — in PP alone.

Applications

Cooling Tunnels

36% open area maximizes cold air contact with product. Reinforced supports carry heavy loads through long cooling lines without belt sag.

Spiral Freezers & IQF

High open area for rapid heat transfer in blast freezing. Strong enough to carry heavy bulk loads through multi-tier spiral systems.

Drying Lines

Airflow through the 36% grid supports efficient drying of snacks, baked goods, pet food, and other products requiring uniform air distribution.

Battery & Industrial

Known as the "Battery Belt" for its use in lead-acid battery plate handling. Thick supports resist acid and carry heavy plate stacks reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called the "Battery Belt"?

The HP508 FG earned the nickname "Battery Belt" from its widespread use in lead-acid battery manufacturing, where its thick reinforced supports carry heavy battery plates through acid baths and drying ovens. The same strength and chemical resistance that works for battery production makes it ideal for heavy food processing applications.

How does HP508 FG compare to EC508 FG?

Both are 2" pitch flush grid belts, but the HP508 FG has significantly thicker product supports delivering 34,200 N/m in PP versus 19,800 N/m for EC508. HP508 FG is purpose-built for maximum load capacity. The trade-off: HP508 FG doesn't support flights or sidewalls, and is only available in PP. If you need flights, sidewalls, or PE/POM materials, the EC508 series is the better fit.

Is HP508 FG available in POM or PE?

The HP508 FG is currently available in Polypropylene (PP) only, rated +5°C to +90°C. For sub-zero applications requiring PE (-73°C) or high-strength POM (33,000 N/m), consider the EC508 perforated models which offer 11–22% open area in all three materials.

Can I add flights or sidewalls to the HP508 FG?

No. The HP508 FG is designed as a flat flush grid without flight or sidewall mounting points. Its reinforced supports are optimized for flat conveying under heavy loads. For 2" pitch belts with flight and sidewall options, the EC508 series supports T25–T150 flights and h25–h100 sidewalls across all four models.
