If you’re noticing that your conveyor belts seem to have lots of carryback, it may be time to replace your belts with a better alternative. Teflon belts are perfect for many food manufacturers and packaging plants because of their non-stick properties. Check out these examples of when you should use non-stick Teflon conveyor belts.
Screen Print Drying
One of the benefits to using Teflon belts is that they’re very resistant to high temperatures. Since screen-printed materials require drying under high heat, it’s important to use a belt that won’t melt or warp under extreme temperatures.
Packaging and Sealing
Many kind of plastic packaging require high heat to ensure a proper seal. Similar to the screen printing issue, you don’t want to use a belt that will stick to your products or become damaged during the sealing process. When items stick to the belt, they can cause jams and spacing problems.
Tortilla Manufacturing
Tortillas are the foundations of many Mexican-style dishes, and large-scale manufacturers make them on conveyor systems. When the tortillas go into the press, the machine cooks them at high heat right on the conveyor belt. Using a Teflon belt will ensure that the tortillas don’t stick and leave as little residue behind as possible.
Rubber Profile Extrusion
Rubber profile extrusion is the process of creating long pieces of rubber using a die. When the extruded rubber comes out of the machine, it needs to cool before it can wind around a spool for storage. During the cooling process, the rubber feeds into a tank for treatment and goes down the conveyor system toward the spool. It’s critical during this step that the rubber doesn’t stick to anything while it cures.
